Military Hospitalization History

Roland W. Rasmussen was first admitted to an army field hospital in January of 1944 for sickness and was diagnosed with Myopia (Nearsightedness) and was discharged back to duty sometime later in 1944. Roland was then admitted to an army field hospital for a second time in April of 1944 for a battle injury in the line of duty at the age of 19. As described by army hospitalization records the diagnosis contracture and other unlisted injuries in relation to the third metacarpal bone and a second diagnosis withheld by NARA in relation to the "Fingers, generally" with the causative agent being listed as "Bullet, Machine Gun". This wound was incurred on April 4th, 1944 near Nhpum Ga, Burma. As a result, Roland was issued a Purple Heart for his battle wound and was discharged from military service in accordance with "Sec. II, AR 615-360" and was discharged from the army hospitalization system in October of 1944 after one year and six months of service.
